The sports betting scene is becoming increasingly crowded, with more and more bookmakers popping up each year. In turn, it can be pretty hard for these smaller, less famous bookmakers to break through.
With FansBet, we find a betting site that has had no problem at all gaining attention, thanks to its commitment to share a whopping 50% of all its net profits with supporters of sports teams.
When you sign up to FansBet, you select the club’s supporters who you want to benefit. FansBet then connects with that club’s fan group or a similar organisation, and subsequently helps their supporters out. This can be done by subsidising travel or ticket purchases, or even helping fan groups to buy a stake in their club. It’s a fantastic initiative, and we thoroughly applaud FansBet’s approach.
Of course, this alone shouldn’t be enough to persuade you to sign up for FansBet. You still need an assessment of the general quality of their offering, from the promotions to the customer support. Our comprehensive FansBet review will take you through all this and more.
Let’s get started.
FansBet Sports Sign Up Offer
FansBet achieves the rare feat of managing to make a good first impression before you even look at its welcome offer, thanks to its aforementioned commitment to giving back. A good sign up offer is still important, of course… and we’re delighted to say that FansBet’s version is far beyond ‘good’ – it’s exceptional.
The FansBet new customer offer is called ‘Bet £10, Get £10 Free’, and – for once – that’s exactly what it means. While most bookies offer that ‘free’ reward in the form of free bets, FansBet… just give you £10, in cash, pure and simple!
There are only a few T’s & C’s to be aware of:
Initial deposit must be at least £10
Qualifying wager must be made at odds of 1.50 (1/2) or greater
Neteller and Skrill deposits do not qualify
And that’s about it! This is the rare example of a generous sign up offer, providing exceptional value, with no strings attached. The minimum odds for the qualifying bet are reasonable too, so there’s every chance you’ll make a profit from that. Even if you don’t, if you only deposit £10 then this is essentially a risk-free bet, seeing as you’ll get £10 back in cash anyway.
There’s no other way to put it – the FansBet offer for new customers is absolutely fantastic.
FansBet Sports Betting Ongoing Promotions
Considering the heights that FansBet’s welcome offer hits, it would naturally be pretty difficult for them to maintain that quality with their ongoing promotions. We would have hoped they’d come a little closer, though.
There are only four ongoing FansBet promotions for sports at the time of writing, and most of those barely qualify. One ‘promotion’ is simply that FansBet cover horse racing, and sometimes offer extra places. Great. Another promotion is ‘Fan Boosts’, in which the prices for certain markets are given a boost. It’s certainly not the most original promotion we’ve seen, although – to be fair – the boosts do actually apply to a nice wide range of sports, including F1, rugby union and boxing at the time of writing.
The best promotion (of a pretty mediocre bunch) is the Acca Boost. This gives you a bonus for winning your accumulator, with the size increasing based on the number of selections. A classic 4-folds will net you a decent 5% bonus, for example, 7-folds gives you 20%, and a massive 15-folds will give you a full 100% bonus (good luck with that!). The minimum odds for each selection are a generous 1.2 (1/5), and the bonus is given in cash, rather than FansBet free bets.
In short, the ongoing promotions which are present are okay, but we’d like to see a whole lot more of them in the future.
FansBet Football Features and Bets
It’s all well and good having a great welcome offer to reel in new customers, but – in order to keep them in the long-term – you still need to nail the basics. One of the most fundamental parts of any bookie’s offering, of course, is football betting.
FansBet has a dedicated football section for fans of the beautiful game. The layout is very clear, simply displaying a big, dynamic list of all the biggest competitions at that moment. At the time of writing, for example, we’re coming off an international break, in which International Friendlies and Euro Qualifying received top billing. When club football resumes, the Premier League, Champions League, and the rest of the usual suspects will be prioritised.
Clicking on a competition reveals all the upcoming matchups. While the odds for traditional 1/X/2 Full Time markets are shown by default, you can easily change those to Both Teams to Score, Draw No Bet and so on via a handy drop-down menu. Being able to see these odds in the form of a big list, rather than having to delve into each individual match, is a useful touch.
In general there’s nothing flashy whatsoever about FansBet’s football section, but it is highly functional. The one gripe we do have is that in-play matches aren’t shown by default on the section’s home page. There’s a side-bar displaying in-play events for all sports, of which football matches occupy a small area, but it would be nice to see a full-sized list within the section itself.
With that said, in-play betting does work extremely well. You can follow your chosen match closely via the ‘Visualization’ tool, which constantly updates you on proceedings – ‘Team A are attacking’, ‘Team B have a corner’, and so on. You also get live stats from the game, and the odds update frequently. Executing a live FansBet cash out is also very easy to do.
Other Betting Markets
There’s more to sports betting than football, of course, and FansBet offer a lovely broad range of alternative markets. These vary from the commonplace – like horse racing (including price boosts), rugby and cricket – to North American sports, wrestling and e-sports.
Pleasingly, FansBet have made in-play betting for a variety of sports – not just football – a clear priority. There’s an entire section dedicated to it – which is always accessible via the top bar – and you can immediately bet on basketball, tennis, volleyball … or basically anything else that’s taking place!
Given how incredibly reluctant most sportsbooks are to discuss their security measures, we were delighted to find a whole actual page on the FansBet website dedicated to the subject. It doesn’t go into much detail, admittedly… but we’ll take what we can get!
FansBet give assurances that your credit card data and personal information are fully protected ‘by the same amount of security a bank would use’. This is mostly accomplished using SSL encryption algorithms, which protect your data going back and forth from the the site. In addition, all customer funds are held in a trust account at the Bank of Valletta, Malta, completely separate from FansBet’s corporate accounts.
‘Is FansBet legit?’ would be a perfectly reasonable question for you to ask, given that you’ve probably never heard of them before! Given the aforementioned security measures, and the fact they’re regulated by the Malta Gaming Authorities and the UK Gambling Commission, the answer is a definitive ‘yes’.
The FansBet football features are hardly the most exciting we’ve seen, but they do get the job done.
Mobile Betting Options & App
With on-the-go betting more popular than ever, it’s absolutely vital for every bookie – no matter how big or small – to have a functioning mobile app.
FansBet does indeed tick this box, although their app is far from the most exciting we’ve seen. Effectively, it mirrors what you’ll find on the desktop version of the website – it’s not flashy, and is lacking in exciting features, but it’s a solid all-round effort.
While the app incorporates both sportsbook and casino features, you can still enter the dedicated sports area easily enough via a top bar on the main screen. Once you’re there, navigating around the section is easy to do using another top bar, through which you can access all the main markets – football, horse racing, and so on – as well as Fan Boosts. The mobile version of the site is arranged in an almost identical manner, and works well enough, although it doesn’t load as quickly as the app.
In terms of sheer functionality, the FansBet mobile app – again, like the desktop version – is fine, but nothing to write home about. You can access and wager on the same wide range of markets, and both in-play betting and cash out are present and correct.
The FansBet app is available for both Android and iOS devices. You can get the latter straight from the App Store, whereas you’ll need to download the FansBet Android app directly from their website (you can find it here).
Opening a FansBet Account
The FansBet sign up process is very nicely streamlined, and takes two minutes – at most – to complete. It’s split neatly into two parts – User Details and Personal Information.
In the first stage, you enter your email address, username, password and phone number. This is also the point at which you choose a sports team – if you so desire – for FansBet to give back to, as detailed in our introduction to this review. In the second stage, you provide the rest of your personal details – name, date of birth, and so on – and you’ll subsequently be asked if you’d like to set deposit limits on your account.
After that, you’re free to start betting!
FansBet offers a solid range of banking options that’s comparable to what you’ll find elsewhere from similarly-sized bookies. It still lags behind the choices you’d get from the biggest bookies on the market, though.
You can make deposits using Visa and Mastercard, Skrill, Paysafecard, Neteller, ecoPayz and Trustly. The minimum deposit amount is £10, and deposits are processed instantly. As you deposit, you’ll also be asked to choose your bonus – make sure to select the ‘Bet £10, Get £10 Free’ welcome offer, rather than the casino promotion.
There are roughly the same options for making a FansBet withdrawal, although Paysafecard is not supported. The minimum withdrawal amount is only £5, and withdrawals are processed within 24-48 hours.
This is one area in which smaller bookies normally underwhelm, but we’re pleased to say that FansBet bucks this trend in a big way.
The FansBet customer service team are available 24/7 via live chat. That’s an outstanding achievement, considering it’s something which some of the biggest names in the industry aren’t able to offer. The support you receive is of a high quality too – our test enquiry was answered immediately, in a friendly and helpful manner. Alternatively, you can contact FansBet via email, if your enquiry isn’t so urgent. While there’s no phone support… you don’t really need it, with 24/7 live chat in place.
In addition, there’s a solid FAQ section. It’s far from the most extensive we’ve seen, but it still manages to cover every major topic, and the answers are written in a clear, succinct way.
FansBet Company Details
FansBet is an extremely new face on the sports betting scene, having only been founded in the summer of 2017. It was originally started by two Norwegian businessmen (hence why the website is available in Norwegian as well as English), but is now based in Malta.
Despite their youth, FansBet have quickly built a name for themselves in a short space of time thanks to their laudable scheme to give 50% of their net profits back to fans. FansBet have clarified that this is “not a donation, not a charity, it’s supporters’ money being recycled back into the communities that matter to them.” They have already reached agreements with dozens of fan groups, and we’d expect to see that number increase exponentially as the FansBet brand grows.
FansBet Bottom Line
If you’ve read through the entirety of our FansBet review, you’ll have noticed that the word ‘solid’ pops up quite a few times. And, in short, that one word summarises the FansBet experience.
Everything that you’d expect to find from a modern bookie is in place here – in-play betting, a mobile app, a nice range of markets, and so on. Aside from their dedication to giving back to the fans, there’s nothing particularly exceptional about FansBet.
With that said… you don’t always need excitement from your bookie. In fact, we’d say it’s preferable to find a sportsbook that absolutely nails the fundamentals, rather than one which has a few flashy features but frustratingly fails to execute the basics.
If you agree with that assessment, we’d highly recommend you sign up to FansBet today, and take advantage of their excellent ‘Bet £10, Get £10 Free’ welcome offer. You can bet through your initial deposit at reasonable odds, get a tenner back with no strings attached, and make an informed decision about whether you’d like to carry on using this bookie or not. If you value substance over style, we have a sneaking suspicion you’ll stick with FansBet for a long time to come.
