WHY CHOOSE GATOBET
Intuitive and streamlined interface
Solid security and customer service
Range Of Sports, Leagues And Markets
A User Interface That Is Intuitive And Works Well
GatoBet’s age makes it one of those strange, in-between sorts of sportsbooks. It was only founded in 2019, meaning it’s obviously quite new. That said, this should have given them enough time to iron out any obvious flaws.
Have they actually managed to do so? Well, that’s one of the many things we’re aiming to find out in our GatoBet review! In the process, we’ll also evaluate this young brand’s welcome offer, promotions, security, and plenty more. Overall, we’ll assess whether – despite their youth – GatoBet are already worth registering with.
GatoBet Sign Up Offer
The primary goal of a welcome offer is – naturally – to tempt you into signing up with a brand. This is done firstly through catching your attention, and then through offering you enough value to make the offer irresistible.
The GatoBet new customer offer certainly succeeds in the first goal. It advertises a mighty £30 free bet for new customers, in return for a £10 bet. ‘Bet X, Get Y’ is one of the most common types of welcome offer there is, and the actual values here – Bet £10, Get £30 – are highly competitive.
Before we go any further, though, we simply must look at the T’s & C’s. These are the key ones:
- Must use deposit code ‘GATO’
- Minimum deposit of £10
- Minimum bet of £10 to activate £30 GatoBet free bet
- Minimum odds of evens (2.0) when using free bet
- Free bet stake not returned with winnings
- Bonus and winnings expire five days after free bet is awarded
- Free bet winnings must be bet 10 times, before conversion to real money
- Maximum real money conversion amount = £30
We’ve seen plenty of welcome offers in our day, and this is one of the most conflicting we’ve come across.
The basic value proposition is good, and the minimum stake and odds for your qualifying bet are fair. Some of the restrictions, however, are pretty darn unappealing. Needing to bet through your winnings 10 times is already a tough task, and only getting five days to do this makes it even tougher.
Overall, we’d call this a solid effort. It certainly isn’t for everyone, but – for those with enough determination – there are some fine rewards on offer here.
GatoBet Ongoing Promotions (Updated On: March 2021)
It would be fair to call the opening GatoBet offer a mixed bag. In such situations, we normally like a bookie to get back on track with some strong ongoing promotions.
GatoBet don’t quite meet this expectation. While there are six such offers available at the time of writing, covering a nice range of sports, none of the promotions are particularly appealing in themselves.
Most notable are the GatoBet promotions for football. Technically there are two of them, but they’re almost identical. They simply require different promo codes, and one is for the Premier League, whereas the other is for all football.
Both tempt you in with the promise of a £10 free bet, in exchange for spending £25 on football markets. That’s certainly good value, but – as with the welcome offer – the terms and conditions are an issue. Once more you must bet through any winnings 10 times before converting them to real money. At least you’re given 30 days to do so here, rather than five, but it’s still a big ask.
Elsewhere, there are also promotions for horse racing, ice hockey, table tennis, and basketball. You probably won’t be surprised to learn they’re all pretty similar!
Again, these are ‘Bet X, Get Y’ deals, dishing out free bets but with tough rollover requirements. The only difference between the offers are the values. For ice hockey you must wager £25 to get a £10 free bet, while for horse racing, table tennis and basketball the amounts are £15 and £5 respectively.
GatoBet Football Features
Whether you’re a long-established brand, or a relative newcomer like GatoBet, some principles remain the same. Quite simply, if your goal is to get as much ongoing business as possible, you must have a competitive football section in place. We’re pleased to say that GatoBet have excelled themselves here.
For starters, the range of markets is absolutely outstanding. In terms of both breadth and depth, it’s easily a match for most larger sportsbooks. The biggest competitions from all around the world are supported, from international tournaments like the Euros, to continental fare like the Champions League, to all the major domestic leagues. For many countries, there’s coverage of lower-league football too. In England, for example, you’ll find a full suite of EFL markets, from the Championship through to League 2.
There’s plenty of scope for creativity in how you bet too. Of course the likes of Match Winner and Both Teams to Score are available. But you’ll also find plenty of niche betting markets: within the majority of games you’ll be able to bet on team, player, or time-specific outcomes. GatoBet also bundle together common doubles for you – like Player X to Score and Team Y to Win – which is a nice touch, and there are intriguing specials for many major matchups.
Elsewhere, while streaming might be absent, live betting is absolutely a priority. Both the GatoBet cash out and in-play tools work flawlessly, and live stats and a visualisation tool are provided for ongoing games. You’ll also find fair odds when both placing and cashing out bets, and these update regularly depending on what’s happening in the match.
In all, we have no complaints whatsoever about GatoBet’s football features. They compare favourably to those offered by much bigger bookies, and allow you to easily wager on the beautiful game however and whenever you please.
Other Betting Markets
While football is invariably a bookie’s biggest money-maker, it still absolutely pays to offer a fully-fledged range of other sports markets. Once again, GatoBet tick this box with aplomb.
Crucially, horse racing is featured, which isn’t always the case with newer bookies. Every other major market is represented too, including tennis, cricket, golf, rugby, and boxing. Popular American competitions like the NFL, NBA and MLB are also in place, as are eSports like LoL and Dota 2. This impressive selection is then rounded out nicely by the inclusion of less-heralded markets, like chess and speedway.
Mobile Betting Options & App
We all know that online platforms surpassed brick-and-mortar sportsbooks. Well, there may be another seismic shift taking place, with on-the-go gambling already duking it out with desktop-based betting for top spot.
In this context, we were both surprised and dismayed to discover just how poor the GatoBet mobile offering is. Most notably, there’s no GatoBet Android app whatsoever available, nor is there an iOS version.
This omission is simply bizarre, as having an mobile betting app benefits both the bookie and the customer. The former get more customers, and their presence on a punter’s phone also helps them stay in that person’s mind. The latter get a smooth betting experience specifically designed for mobile devices. In short, having one should be a no-brainer for every modern bookie, and there being no GatoBet app whatsoever is a big mistake.
That mistake is compounded by the lackluster mobile version of the site. Firstly, the site doesn’t load very quickly, even on a strong wifi connection. The navigation has also barely been adapted for a smaller screen, making the sportsbook cumbersome to navigate. It’s not exactly a disaster, as you can still access your account and place both pre-match and in-play bets. But compared to what you’ll get from any premium bookie’s mobile site, this attempt lags behind significantly.
We’re hardly going out on a limb when we guess that you probably haven’t heard of this bookie. Assuming we’re right, a question like ‘Is GatoBet legit?’ is perfectly fair.
GatoBet do actually provide a decent amount of detail about their security measures. 128-bit SSL encryption is definitely featured, as is firewall technology. Payments are processed via respected third-party handlers, and there are anti-fraud measures in place.
In addition, GatoBet have managed to secure full licenses with both the UK Gambling Commission and Malta Gaming Authority. Both are respected institutions, which will regulate GatoBet for both security and fairness.
Opening an Account
This is another of the fundamentals which GatoBet have executed extremely well. Their registration process is short, straightforward, and clearly-explained.
You kick off by selecting ‘Join Now’, on either the desktop or mobile websites. You’ll now be given a box in which to enter your email address and phone number, and create a password. Click ‘Submit’ to proceed to the next page, where you must enter your name, gender, address, and date of birth. You can also determine your marketing preferences, and set a preferred currency.
Once you’ve done so, click ‘Submit’ again. A 4-digit activation code will now be sent to you. Just copy that back onto the website, and you’re done.
For a non-premium bookie, GatoBet’s payment options are actually pretty impressive. Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal are the most noteworthy deposit methods, but ecoPayz, Paysafecard, MuchBetter, and Payviaphone are supported too. Bank transfers are also enabled via Trustly. Minimum deposit amounts are either £10 or £20, depending on the method.
Aside from Paysafecard, the same options are available for a GatoBet withdrawal. There’s a ‘Pending Period’ of three days for all methods, with payments processed 1-7 days later thereafter, depending on the method. Be aware that all withdrawals are also subject to an irritating £2.50 transaction fee.
Once again, this is a crucial area which GatoBet manage to get exactly right. The GatoBet customer service offering is both helpful and easy to reach.
You have two main ways to do so. Technically you can use the ticketing system if you like, but it’s much quicker to just pick the live chat. You can get to it very quickly by clicking a chat bubble icon in the main menu, and it’s available 08:00 – 00:00 GMT each day, which is very good coverage indeed.
If you’ve got an issue, we’d recommend simply using the above GatoBet contact options, because the indirect help isn’t very impressive. There is an FAQ section, but it’s focused almost exclusively on GatoBet’s casino, rather than their sportsbook. There are useful individual sections on deposits and withdrawals elsewhere on the website, but the FAQ itself is a big missed opportunity.
GatoBet Company Details
As noted, GatoBet are a very young sportsbook, having launched as recently as 2019. Don’t let this mislead you, though: there’s still plenty of experience behind them, courtesy of ProgressPlay.
ProgressPlay are both the creators and operators of this sportsbook. Since 2012, they’ve focused mostly on casino websites, and have been successful in this field. Recently, though, they’ve made a strong play in the sports betting industry, with GatoBet one of several sportsbooks they now operate. We’ve been impressed by the professionalism of each website, and look forward to seeing what ProgressPlay can achieve in the next couple of years.

GatoBet Bottom Line
We mentioned in our introduction that GatoBet might be one of those ‘in-between’ sportsbooks. To an extent, this really is true. While there’s plenty to like here, there are still certain areas which must be improved.
Let’s start with the good stuff. The interface is both streamlined and intuitive, and allows you to comfortably navigate GatoBet’s markets. Speaking of markets, the selection here is already extremely impressive; not just in what you can bet on, but in terms of how you can bet on it. That’s true for both pre-match and in-play wagers, with the latter working smoothly and quickly. In terms of its security, customer service, and banking options, this also feels like a bookie which is advanced beyond its years.
It’s not perfect, nor would we expect it to be at this early stage. The mobile features in particular simply must be improved, preferably with the development of an app. The promotions are currently uninspired too.
Overall, considering this bookie’s youth, we were very impressed by what we discovered during this GatoBet review. To answer the most important question of all… yes, it’s already a legitimate option on the sports betting scene. We have no qualms whatsoever in recommending that you sign up, and try out GatoBet for yourself today.
