For our money, there’s no such thing as having ‘too much’ choice. As fans of sports betting, we’re actually extremely lucky to have such an enormous range of options. It ensures that there’s not just one, but several bookies (at least) suited to everyone’s tastes. In turn, that allows you to run multiple accounts, picking and choosing the best odds, specials and promotions whenever you please. We truly live in a golden age of gambling.

BetRebels entered the fray in 2011, which actually makes them a middle-aged bookie in this fast-moving world. They’ve made solid growth since then, though they certainly haven’t broken through into the mainstream. In our detailed BetRebels review, we’ll take a close look at the main aspects of this bookie’s offering – its promotions, security features, customer service, and so on. All this will be done with an eye on evaluating whether it’s worthy of your custom.

BetRebels Sports Sign Up Offer

If a bookie has been around for a few years, but has failed to break into the mainstream, a good welcome offer can be a great way to attract new users in their droves. BetRebels’ advertisement of a ‘50% Welcome Bonus’ will certainly gain people’s interest, but the conditions which must be satisfied might make them pause.

In short, BetRebels are offering to give you a 50% bonus on your initial deposit… but of course, it’s not as easy as that! Here are the main terms and conditions for the BetRebels new customer offer:

  • Initial deposit must be at least €10
  • Maximum bonus amount is €100
  • To claim the bonus, you must send an email (!) to bonus@betrebels.com
  • Bonus can only be retained if you bet through your total deposit plus bonus five times
  • Qualifying bets must be made at odds of 8/11 (1.75) or greater
  • Rollover must be completed within 90 days

All in all, while the potential reward of a 50% bonus is attractive, this is a tricky little welcome offer. For starters, needing to email the bookie to claim your bonus seems a bizarrely outdated system. After that, rolling over your entire deposit and bonus five times is also a tough requirement. If you deposit €20, for example, you’ll need to bet through €150 just to get €10 back.

In fairness though, you are given a generous 90 days to complete the rollover, and another positive is that the bonus will be given to you in cash, rather than in the form of a BetRebels free bet. Overall this is hardly the best welcome offer currently available, but it’s certainly not the worst either.

BetRebels Betting Ongoing Promotions

Few things frustrate us more than a bookie which overlooks its ongoing promotions. They’re such a basic way to reward your loyal, long-time customers that we’re baffled by any company which omits them. The BetRebels promotions aren’t exactly exceptional, but at least they’ve given it a good shot.

There are three ongoing promotions currently available, and the first – ‘Win More Bonus’ – is arguably the most exciting. It’s essentially a way to boost your winnings on an acca of five selections or more, and the more selections you add, the bigger the bonus gets. Five selections nets you a 5% boost, six picks gets you an extra 10%, and so on.

There’s another accumulator-related BetRebels offer too, although this one can only be used on tennis and basketball markets. This insurance deal will ensure your stake on an acca with five or more selection is refunded, up to a healthy €30, if only one selection loses.

Finally, BetRebels also have a good loyalty scheme in place. It’s similar to the welcome offer, in that you can get a 50% bonus on your deposit, providing you bet through the deposit and bonus amount four times. This can be activated every month, and therefore serves as a nice way to reward your ongoing use of the site.

BetRebels Football Features

When it comes to sheer volume and importance of betting markets, the beautiful game stands head and shoulders above all other sports, and it’s hard to see that changing any time soon. Accordingly, if you’re going to nail one section of your website as a bookmaker… it had better be this one!

Visually, BetRebels’ website is currently a little cluttered and outdated. Look at a table of football betting odds, for example, and it very much feels like looking at a big wall of numbers, with little to separate the individual games or selections. BetRebels are currently working on a beta for a brand new sports section, though, which should drastically improves things in this respect.

Those minor annoyances aside, you’ll find a very solid football section indeed here. The home page of the entire sports section shows live football markets by default, with the odds being adjusted fairly regularly. Dip into an ongoing game, and you’ll get a very good idea of what’s going on courtesy of a visualisation tool. This area conveys an incredible amount of data, from basic stats like shots on targets, to heat maps and even offside locations! If in-play betting is important to you then this is truly a dream come true, and live wagering is further strengthened by a quality BetRebels cash out feature.

Elsewhere, while BetRebels doesn’t have the most attractive interface in the world, it’s easy enough to navigate. Any and all major domestic, continental and international competitions are neatly laid out on a big old menu, with the most popular – Premier League, La Liga, and so on – always displayed on a smaller menu in the top-left. There are a huge number of markets available for upcoming games and outright bets, with odds comparable to those at the biggest bookies.

Other Betting Markets

While the same interface issues are inherited throughout the BetRebels website, the depth and quality of available markets is also continued outside of football.

BetRebels offers an excellent range of betting opportunities, covering almost every major sport. There are dozens, and sometimes hundreds, of markets available for the likes of tennis, American football, rugby, golf, eSports, and plenty more besides. These cover in-play, outright and special bets, and – as mentioned – tennis and basketball even have their own dedicated promotion.

The only major absence is horse racing. That’s a shame, given its popularity for wagering, but it’s also an issue you often encounter with smaller bookies.

Mobile Betting Options & App

Whether it’s through lack of ambition, lack of funds, or simply because they don’t view it as necessary, we’re noticing a growing trend among the smaller bookies not to bother with a mobile app. In this day and age, when many bettors prefer to wager on their phone rather than on their computer, we’d say that’s a mistake.

BetRebels is another bookie which sadly falls into this group. There is no iOS app currently available for users, nor is there a BetRebels Android app. We would say that we hope to see one released in the near future, but unfortunately – given that BetRebels have already been around since 2011 – that seems pretty unlikely.

If you are going to skimp on an actual app, you’d better make sure the mobile version of your site is up to scratch. The BetRebels mobile website is certainly usable, but it suffers from the same issues as the desktop version, which are exacerbated on the smaller screen. It’s not pleasant to look at, with an uninspired grey, black and white colour scheme, although the increased size of the text and odds makes them easy enough to read.

Likewise, while this isn’t the most intuitive site to navigate that we’ve come across, it’s still functional. You can flip between all the major sports via a sliding menu near the top, and there are a couple more buttons in the corners to either switch to live betting or access the My Account section.

‘Functional’ really is the word we’d use to summarise the BetRebels mobile site. It’s not beautiful by any means, but it gets the job done. You can’t help thinking, though, that a dedicated BetRebels app would have improved the whole experience massively.

Security

BetRebels actually provide more information on their security measures than most bookmakers. It’s not a lot of detail, by any means, but we’ll take what we can get in this area!

On their About Us page, BetRebels state that earning their customer’s trust is a key aim of their business. This is done through storing all user details in a secure network which is protected by state-of-the-art firewalls. Users’ funds are stored with leading European banks, and – perhaps most importantly – BetRebels are fully licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority.

While you might not have heard of them before, therefore, you shouldn’t have to worry about the question ‘Is BetRebels legit?’.

Banking Options

BetRebels’ payment options are decent, but they certainly don’t compete with those of the bigger names in the industry.

Credit and debit cards are very much the preferred methods for making a deposit, and the other major options are Neteller, Paysafecard and bank transfer (there are a couple of less popular choices too, like Ukash and ClickandBuy). There are no charges, and the minimum deposit is €10 for all methods except bank transfer, for which it’s a hefty €50.

These options are also available when making a BetRebels withdrawal, minus the likes of Paysafecard, and you must use the same method as you did when depositing. Withdrawals are generally processed within 48 hours, although bank transfers take 3-5 days.

Opening an Account

BetRebels’ website isn’t always the easiest to use, but thankfully this doesn’t apply to their sign up process. In fact, given that the entire registration takes place on one screen, it’s hard to imagine a more efficient system!

On this single screen you’ll fill in all your personal details, including your name, address, phone number and email address. You’ll also create a username, set a password and security question, and select your preferred currency. After that, you’re pretty much done!

Customer Support

This is another area in which you might expect a smaller bookie to struggle compared to the industry titans. In this case, though, the BetRebels contact options are pleasingly robust.

All of the major methods by which you could hope to reach BetRebels’ customer service are supported here. Live chat is a welcome inclusion, and it’s quick and easy to start chatting to a support agent. Additionally there’s an email address, phone number, and even Skype accounts covering several different languages.

It’s a good thing that these direct contact options are so good, because BetRebels’ indirect help is almost non-existent. There’s no FAQ section in place, which is a major – almost shocking – omission. You can find odd pages to help you with payment methods and so on, but this can only be done via a Google search rather than through the website.

BetRebels Company Details

Considering they’ve been around for a few years now, there isn’t a huge amount of information available for BetRebels, either on their site or elsewhere.

As mentioned earlier they started operating in 2011, and their parent company is Rebels Gaming Limited, who ran another betting site called Pantheon Bet which since seems to have closed. We also know that they’re based in tax-friendly Malta, and seem to have concentrated most of their efforts targeting bettors in that region, in countries like Greece and Italy.

Aside from that, there isn’t much more detail we can give you! Again though, BetRebels do hold a full license with the Malta Gaming Authority, meaning they satisfy a number of strict guidelines.

BetRebels Bottom Line

Despite having spent plenty of time on the site for our BetRebels review, we’re still not entirely sure how to feel about it.

On the one hand they’re quite new… but on the other, they’re not that new in bookmaking terms. We’ve reviewed much younger bookies who didn’t have the shortcomings we’ve found here, and – in general – you get the feeling that BetRebels should be further along by now.

The absences of fundamentals like an FAQ section or a mobile app are disappointing, considering BetRebels have been operating for almost a decade. Some of the layout decisions, and smaller quirks like needing to send an email to activate the welcome offer, are simply strange.

None of these are deal-breakers, though, and BetRebels does have plenty going for it too. The ongoing promotions are strong for a bookie of this size, and these – combined with the vast range of markets – will keep you coming back for a long time. The live betting section is also extremely well-developed, and the customer service options are truly outstanding.

Overall, while it might not blow your socks off, BetRebels is well worth a look if you’re after a new bookmaker. Whether you prefer the respectable 50% Welcome Bonus, or the tidy Win More Bonus for an acca, we’d recommend giving BetRebels a shot.
