The rise of the internet – and particularly the rise of software providers – has broadened the sports betting scene to extents that wouldn’t have seemed possible 20 years ago. We’re long past the stage where you’re forced to choose between a handful of the same old names. Nowaday – particularly if you live in the betting-friendly UK – you can choose between dozens, if not hundreds of options.

BetRegal stepped bravely into this ultra-competitive scene in 2017. In an effort to break through, and achieve widespread success, they’re seeking to blend both style and substance. The website certainly looks great, and has flashy offers to entice new customers. But beneath this surface sheen, there’s also a premium on offering highly competitive odds, to deliver the highest possible value.

Has this relatively new bookie managed to achieve its goals, and provide a worthwhile option for sports bettors? It’s high time to find out, in our comprehensive BetRegal review.

New customers only. Max one £10 free bet, qualifying bets must be placed at odds of 1/1 or greater. Paid as bonus token with min odds req. T&Cs apply.

BetRegal Sign Up Offer

You don’t need to spend long on the BetRegal website to realise this is a serious and competent operation. Of course, that in itself isn’t enough to make a newcomer sign up. Along with a few other factors, a big part of accomplishing that goal is providing a compelling sign up offer.

The BetRegal welcome offer certainly falls into that category. Titled ‘Bet £10, Get £10’, it might not be one for the big spenders, but it undoubtedly offers excellent value. It’s also extremely straightforward – you essentially just bet £10, and get £10 back as a free bet. Simple!

Of course, there are a few stipulations attached. These are the main terms and conditions for the opening BetRegal offer:

  • Qualifying deposit must be £10 or more
  • Deposits made using Neteller, Paysafe or Skrill are ineligible
  • Qualifying bet must be £10 or more, on any sport, made at odds of 1/1 (2.0) or greater
  • Qualifying bet must be settled within 14 days of placement
  • After qualifying wager has been placed, a single £10 free bet token will be added to your account
  • BetRegal free bet must be used at odds of 4/5 (1.80) or greater
  • Free bet must be used on a single or straight accumulator market, on any sport
  • Free bet will expire after 14 days
  • Free bet stake will not be returned with winnings

While it can’t quite compete with the ‘Bet £10, Get £30’ promotions that some of the biggest bookies offer, make no mistake about it – this is a very good welcome offer indeed. It’s extremely easy to use, and the fair minimum odds for both the qualifying wager and free bet – plus the fact that you can bet on any traditional sports market – mean there’s every chance you’ll make a tidy profit here.

BetRegal Ongoing Promotions (Updated On: April 2020)

BetRegal’s welcome offer definitely creates a positive first impression. Of course, to ensure bettors keep coming back after they’ve completed the welcome offer, a bookie really should have some quality ongoing promotions in place too.

In this case, the ongoing BetRegal promotions are a little unimpressive, particularly in comparison to the welcome offer. For the most part, that’s because there simply aren’t very many of them. In fact, there are only three at the time of writing, with two of this trio being prediction games.

The first – ‘RegalBowl 2020’ – is specific to the NFL… and is actually pretty appealing! Each week, you’re given a selection of games for which you must make a prediction. Correct answers will count towards a free bet token to be used on the Super Bowl, with more equalling a bigger reward. Answer one correctly, for example, and you’ll get a £10 token. Get four correct – the maximum amount, at the time of writing – and you’ll net a hefty £60 free bet. Best of all, you don’t need to spend any money whatsoever to enter this contest – you simply need a positive account balance to be eligible.

‘Predictor Master’ is very similar, and – despite its silly name – is also a nice deal, with a free bet up to £100 available to win. Again, you make predictions on a round of games, with more correct answers netting you a bigger reward. In this case, the questions are all related to football, and the free bet you receive must be used on an in-play market.

Finally, we have ‘The King’s Court’. As noted in our intro, one of BetRegal’s claims to fame is offering genuinely competitive odds. In the case of this offer, they take this to the next level by offering markets ‘Priced to 99%’ on certain games. This basically means that they’re cutting their own margin significantly to offer a theoretical return of 99%, which is higher than you’d get with a regular vig. This might not be the most exciting offer in the world, but it exemplifies BetRegal’s commitment to value.

Based on the quality of the ongoing promotions which are currently available, it’s a real shame that BetRegal couldn’t bulk out this section a little more.

BetRegal Football Features

Promotions are certainly a good way to hook in new people in the first place, and keep them coming back in the short term. Converting these people into long term customers, though, requires excellent execution of the fundamentals, with football features being one of the key areas.

Football has its own dedicated section on BetRegal, which is always a good start. Visually, it looks absolutely fantastic. The black and purple colour scheme is simple, yet gives the site a cool, futuristic feel. The layout of the interface is also highly effective, with the whole section split into four areas: Daily Match List, Top Leagues, All Leagues and In-Play.

These are all pretty self-explanatory, and allow you to find the market you’re looking for extremely quickly, or simply browse for a tasty betting opportunity. Within a match’s markets, you’ll find dozens of individual bets, ranging from Over/Unders and 1/X/2’s, to Specials like ‘Team X To Win From Behind’. You’ll also find plenty of Outright markets for all the major competitions, covering the usual League Winner and Relegation Bets through to Top 10 and Bottom 10 finishes.

In terms of actual features, BetRegal isn’t exactly groundbreaking. It does provide the basics you’d expect from any modern bookie though, including both in-play betting and a BetRegal cash out feature. While there’s no live streaming, the useful ‘Match Tracker’ tool does an excellent job of keeping you informed about both the major incidents and general match flow.

Other Betting Markets

Despite it being comfortably the most popular sport to bet on, no sportsbook can survive on its football markets alone. Rather, it must attempt to cater for as wide a range of sports fans as possible.

BetRegal does this admirably. Every major sport you’re likely to fancy betting on is present and correct, whether that be tennis, rugby, cricket, golf or motor sports. Crucially, massive betting markets like horse racing and boxing are also included, which isn’t always the case with non-premium bookies.

In addition to all that, you’ll find excellent coverage of North American leagues like the NFL and NBA, a solid range of eSports bets, and a few more niche markets like bandy, speedway, and even floorball!

Mobile Betting Options & App

While it might be an exaggeration to say that a modern sportsbook lives or dies on the strength of its mobile features… it’s not a massive exaggeration! After all, while plenty of people still use a desktop or laptop computer for their bets, on-the-go betting on a mobile device really has become wildly popular.

In this context, it’s always a little confusing to find a fairly new sportsbook which doesn’t have a mobile app. Unfortunately, though, that’s exactly what we do find with BetRegal! They don’t offer an iOS app, nor is there a BetRegal Android app in place. Again, we wouldn’t necessarily call it a dealbreaker if a bookie doesn’t provide an app… but it’s certainly very confusing! You surely want to provide as much functionality as possible for your users, after all, and a mobile app tends to make betting life a whole lot easier.

While this absence is disappointing, though, the situation is rectified by the quality of the BetRegal mobile site. This matches the attractive colour scheme of the desktop version, and generally provides the same layout too. Certain concessions are made for smaller screens, though – like a dropdown menu hidden in the top corner, or a scrolling menu to navigate through all the sports – and everything from the betting markets to the promotions page has been scaled down nicely.

Overall, we’d certainly have preferred to see a dedicated BetRegal app in place. The excellent mobile site means that on-the-go bettors are still catered-for here, though.

Security

Modern bookies can be a bit hit-and-miss when it comes to giving details of their security measures. To their credit, though, BetRegal do provide a full section on this topic. 128-bit SSL encryption is used to protect data transfers, their internal servers are heavily protected by firewalls, and payments are processed by industry veterans Aspire Global International Ltd.

Still wondering ‘Is BetRegal legit?’ Their licenses should be enough to put such doubts to rest. BetRegal are fully regulated by gambling commissions in Malta, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and elsewhere.

Opening an Account

Even in the context of modern sportsbooks, where registration is usually pretty easy, the sign up process at BetRegal is particularly streamlined.

The whole thing is split neatly up into two steps. At the first stage, you provide your email address, create a username, and set a password. Afterwards, you’ll enter a selection of personal details, including your name, date of birth, and address. Finally, you simply accept the general T’s & C’s, hit the big ‘Open Account’ button, and you’re done!

In total, it takes barely a minute to sign up with BetRegal.

Banking Options

There are four ways to make a BetRegal payment: Visa/Mastercard, PayPal, Skrill and Paysafecard. This is far from the widest selection we’ve seen, but it should still offer most people a way to deposit, and PayPal is certainly a welcome inclusion. Also, if you’re depositing in a currency other than GBP, you may have more options. Methods like ecoPayz, for example, can be used for EUR payments. Regardless, the minimum deposit amount is £10, and all the major methods are processed instantly.

The minimum amount when making a BetRegal withdrawal is also £10, and they take anywhere from 3-10 days to process. You must withdraw to the same method you used when depositing, although – bizarrely – you can’t withdraw to Mastercard.

Customer Support

As you will have seen throughout this review, BetRegal generally does a good job of taking care of the fundamentals. Customer service should be a cornerstone of any good bookie, and we’re pleased to say that – in general – BetRegal has this base covered too.

There are three main ways to contact the BetRegal customer service team: live chat, phone and email (via a ticketing system). Of those, most prominent is the live chat – all you have to do is click a ‘Support’ button in the top-left to open the live chat window at any time. The phone number and email contact form are slightly more hidden, but still easy enough to find.

If your issue doesn’t require direct BetRegal contact, you can head to the help center. This comes mostly in the form of an absolutely brilliant FAQ. The coverage of topics here rivals anything you’ll find at a premium sportsbook, answers are short but helpful, and there’s a useful search function too.

BetRegal Company Details

BetRegal is a fairly new sportsbook, having only been founded in 2017, so there’s not a lot of history to dig into. We do know that it’s owned by The Regal Group (it seems to be their only offering so far), and that the platform is provided by software developers EveryMatrix… but that’s about it!

Ideally you’d like a bit more information about a bookie before signing up with them. In this case, though – thanks in large part to their impressive array of licenses – we’re definitely willing to trust in BetRegal.

BetRegal Bottom Line

You never quite know what you’ll find with a younger sportsbook; particularly one which hasn’t pursued big sponsorship deals, and thus doesn’t have much brand awareness.

BetRegal, though, doesn’t feel like a new sportsbook. Almost everything about it – from its appearance and layout, to its range of betting markets, to its customer service – screams confidence and competence. It’s not perfect, with the lack of a mobile app and payment methods being two of our biggest gripes from this BetRegal review, but these are weaknesses which can easily be rectified.

Looking for a new sportsbook which both executes the basics properly, and provides highly competitive odds? BetRegal is an excellent option, and we’d recommend checking out their highly appealing ‘Bet £10, Get £10’ welcome offer today.
