They’re certainly a historical brand – they were established in 1946, making them one of the oldest bookies still operating. Despite this, they don’t quite hold the “household name” status that some of the other veteran bookies do, like William Hill and Ladbrokes.
In this BetVictor review, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the brand. We’ll evaluate their welcome offer, ongoing promotions, football betting coverage, and much more. Overall, we’ll analyse whether or not they do deserve to be ranked amongst the biggest bookies in the land.

BetVictor Sports Sign Up Offer
An attractive sign up offer is vital for any bookie, for obvious reasons. Up-and-coming brands want to attract more customers; established brands always want to continue growing.
The BetVictor new customer offer is pretty good. We wouldn’t call it the best on the market right now, however. The offer is called “Bet £5, Get £30”… but it isn’t quite as simple as it sounds.
For starters, you must be aware that only £20 of the supposed “£30” can be used on sports bets. The other £10 is a bonus for BetVictor’s casino section. In addition, that £20 actually consists of two separate £10 bets. One can be used on any single sports bet, but the other £10 can only be used on an accumulator of at least three selections.
These are the other most noteworthy terms and conditions:
- Qualifying bet must be made at odds of evens or greater
- Qualifying bet must be completed – i.e. it can’t be cashed out
- BetVictor free bets will expire after seven days
And that’s about it. There are no wagering requirements whatsoever for your free bets, which is great.
This offer really is a mixed bag. On the one hand, only needing to spend £5 to trigger it is fantastic – many bookies require a £10 minimum spend for similar offers. On the other, the need to spend half of your free bet amount on an accumulator is downright annoying.
For the record, BetVictor also currently have “Bet £5 Get £30” welcome offers for both football and horse racing. They’re essentially identical to the regular offer, except the free bets can only be spent on those two sports respectively. Basically, they’re almost the same as the regular offer… but slightly worse.
BetVictor Betting Promotions (Updated On: November 2020)
It’s fair to say we weren’t blown away by the BetVictor offer for new customers. Unfortunately, it’s the same story with their ongoing promotions.
Quite simply, there isn’t much to talk about here. There are only three truly ongoing promotions. Three! Of those, two are for horse racing, and one is for football. That’s right – BetVictor have one promotion for the most popular sport in the country, by far.
That single promotion isn’t even noteworthy. It’s a pretty standard “Acca Insurance” deal – if one selection fails in your 5+ team acca, you get your stake back.
The horse racing offers are similarly unimaginative. One is simply “Best Odds Guaranteed” – which you’ll find at most bookies – and the other is “Run For Your Money”, in which you get a refund if your horse immediately crashes out of the race.
To be fair, there’s currently also a one-off boxing offer which is pretty extraordinary. BetVictor are offering ridiculous odds of 100/1 on Tyson Fury beating Deontay Wilder within 12 rounds, in the upcoming (at the time of writing) showdown.
BetVictor Football Betting Features
We mentioned already that football is by far the biggest sports betting market in the UK. We also mentioned that BetVictor’s actual football promotions are extremely underwhelming. Can they rectify matters with their general football section?
The short answer, we’re pleased to say, is “yes”.
For starters, the layout of this section really is fantastic. In-play betting opportunities are shown at the top, and “Bet Boosts” (specials bets, basically) available for games on that day are listed just below. Basically, if you want to bet on a game happening either right now or in the near future, you can do so almost instantly.
Below that, you’ve got a nice selection of all the major leagues and competitions. The most popular bets you’re likely to be interested in – outrights, special bets for some of the biggest teams, Over/Under 2.5 Goal opportunities, and so on – are all smartly laid out down a sidebar on the left.
Overall, the section is an absolute cinch to navigate, from the very first time you visit.
BetVictor’s football section isn’t exactly “feature-packed”. Whilst live streaming is available for horse racing, for example, football is unfortunately not included. The features that are present certainly work well, though. In fact, the in-play betting here is some of the quickest we’ve come across, with bets basically being placed instantly. The BetVictor cash out feature works equally smoothly.
If you can get past the aforementioned lack of special offers, there is a lot to like about BetVictor’s football features.
Other Betting Markets
There’s more to betting life than just football, of course. On that note, we’re pleased to report that BetVictor caters for fans of other sports just as well as they do for football supporters.
The focus amongst other betting markets is undoubtedly horse racing. The company is owned by a racehorse owner, and most of BetVictor’s sponsorship goes towards racing.
In addition to the aforementioned promotions, BetVictor offers a horse racing section which is just as impressive as its footballing counterpart. The live streaming options are particularly excellent, giving you the opportunity to watch races from the UK, Ireland, South Africa and even the UAE. You do need to place at least a £1 bet on the race you want to watch, however. That’s a bit harsh, considering many bookies allow you to use their streaming services for free.
Aside from that, all the usual suspects – cricket, darts, NFL, rugby, and so on – are present and correct. These sections aren’t quite as in-depth as they are for football and horse racing, but they’re certainly serviceable.
BetVictor Mobile Betting Options & Apps
In today’s modern betting landscape, where mobile betting is so popular, you could actually argue that a bookie’s app is just as important as their desktop website.
The BetVictor app is available for both Android and iOS devices, and can easily be downloaded from either Google Play or the App Store. The requirements for which version of the respective software you require are nice and low for both operating systems.
The app is effectively a direct continuation of the desktop version. The layout follows exactly the same design, although it is slightly less intuitive to navigate on the more compressed screen. All of the same features are available, including live streaming of horse racing, in-play betting, and the excellent “Betfinder” tool, which helps you find a suitable horse to bet on.
The app performed extremely well during our test. We experienced no crashes whatsoever, and every page loaded quickly on both a wi-fi and mobile data connection. The streaming quality wasn’t quite the sharpest we’ve seen, but it’s still certainly acceptable.
Our impressions are backed up by user reviews, too. The BetVictor Android app currently enjoys a 4/5 rating on Google Play. The iOS version fares even better, with a 4.5/5 average rating across over 8,000 reviews.
Opening an Account
Opening an account on BetVictor is extremely straightforward.
At the first stage, you simply need to enter a few details about yourself. These include your name, phone number, and home address.
Next up, you must provide some login and security details – an email address, password, and security question. Unlike most bookies, you don’t actually create a username for your BetVictor account, simply using your email address instead.
This is also the stage at which you can create deposit limits, if you so desire. These limits can apply daily, weekly or monthly.
The whole process couldn’t be easier, and takes barely a minute to complete.
Well, there isn’t a huge amount to write about here either! Like many major bookies, BetVictor are reluctant to talk about their security measures.
They do state that “BetVictor recognise that online security is an area of vital importance”. They don’t, however, give much detail about their specific online security. The only details they really give are that all data transfers are fully encrypted, and they have multiple redundant servers to protect users’ data.
If you were to simply ask us “Is BetVictor legit?”, we’d still say yes. They’ve been in business for over 70 years, after all! We’d certainly prefer a little more information about their security, though.
BetVictor Banking Options and Payment Options
BetVictor’s range of banking options is extremely solid.
Every major payment method you’d hope to find is in place – Visa and Mastercard, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, and so on. Pleasingly, you can also pay by bank transfer, which is one option that’s annoyingly omitted by many bookies.
The minimum deposit amount varies depending on your payment method. Credit cards only require a £5 deposit, for example, whereas for PayPal users that’s bumped up to £10.
Your options for making a BetVictor withdrawal are slightly more limited. Whilst you can still use the most popular methods like Visa and PayPal, the less common ones – like PayNow – are unavailable.
Customer support is an incredibly important part of any bookie’s offering, no matter how big or small they are. We’re pleased to report that the quality of BetVictor’s customer service section is up there with the very best of them.
For starters, the support team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can’t really ask for more than that! The easiest way to contact BetVictor directly is via live chat, but you can also email them or talk to them on the phone (specifically, you get them to call you at a specific time, which is a cool way of doing things).
The Help Centre is also packed with useful articles, on every topic you could reasonably need help with. These range from the basics of account management, to the specifics of sports betting, and some of the articles even include a well-made YouTube video.
BetVictor Company Details
BetVictor was founded all the way back in 1946, by William Chandler. In 1974, the business passed into the hands of Victor Chandler Jr, after whom the company is now named.
BetVictor have been innovative in a couple of interesting ways. They were one of the first major bookies, for example, to move their headquarters to Gibraltar for tax purposes. Several other bookies have since followed suit. They have also remained independent throughout their history (though they were bought out by horse racing millionaire Michael Tabor in 2014), unlike other brands who have chosen instead to merge.
Nowadays, BetVictor have customers in over 150 countries worldwide, and they employ over 400 people. Their revenues reportedly eclipse £1 billion, and they are a major sponsorship partner of Liverpool Football Club.
BetVictor Football Betting Review Summary
There’s definitely a lot to like about BetVictor. The actual mechanics of their offering – their interface, the quality of their mobile app, and so on – really are excellent.
The thing is… all of that only makes the poor quality of their promotions – which we covered earlier in our BetVictor review – all the more baffling. The welcome offer is passable, but the lack of ongoing promotions is absolutely bizarre.
Of course, only you can decide how important this is for your particular requirements. If you can get past that, you’ll find a very competent and well-rounded bookie indeed. We’d certainly say there’s enough here to warrant trying out BetVictor’s “Bet £5, Get £30” welcome offer, and seeing what you think of the offering from there.
