The accumulator is the king of all football bets.
For the uninitiated, an accumulator is when you pick four or more results (note: with certain bookies, you only need 3 selections), and roll them all into the same bet. If all of your picks were correct, you win the bet. If even one bet loses, you lose the whole accumulator.
The main attraction of the accumulator is the enhanced odds. Because you need all of the results to come off, you’ll get far higher odds than you would if you bet on each match separately. Accumulators give you the chance to place a low initial stake, and rake in a big payday if things go your way.

Putting Together an Accumulator
The key to putting together a great football accumulator is finding the balance between risk and reward.
Let’s say it’s the third round of the FA Cup, and all of the big Premier League clubs have drawn minnows. You could place an accumulator bet on Arsenal, Chelsea, City, United and Spurs to all win. And it’ll probably come off. But, because the odds for each individual game are so low, you still won’t stand to make a big profit even on an accumulator.
Also, as everyone knows, upsets happen all the time. It only takes one slipup, in any of those five games, to blow your whole accumulator. You’re taking on the inherent risk found in any accumulator, but your potential for reward isn’t actually that high.
The best football accumulators have a mix of sure-things and riskier picks. Take out a couple of those behemoths, replace them with teams who have tougher draws, and your odds will skyrocket. The risk will also increase, but for a low initial stake you could stand to make a nice profit.
This theory goes for the volume of your picks too. Ramp up your acca from five results to ten, and your odds of victory are slim. But again, if it does come off you’ll take home some big winnings.
Bet365’s Euro Soccer Bonus is one of the best accumulator promotions around. For accas with three or more results in them, Bet365 will give you a bonus on top of your initial winnings. The more results you include, the bigger the bonus (up to 100%, if you win on a miraculous 14+ result acca).
The Bet365 Euro Soccer Bonus covers matches across the EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A, as well as the group stages and knockout rounds of the Champions League.

A 16-fold accumulator is required in order to earn the maximum 50% boost, while a treble will see punters gain a 2% bonus. It is worth keeping in mind that cashed out bets or bets placed using a free bet will not qualify.
Karamba Acca Boost (Karamboost)
The Karamboost is a promotion that offers customers the possibility of earning an additional 77% bonus on top of their accumulator winnings. Punters must place an accumulator with at least four selections in order to qualify, while cumulative odds of 5/1 or greater must also be met.
The more selections you make, the bigger the boost you will receive on your winnings, with the chance to earn an additional £11,000 having already attracted a large number of customers. Bets can be placed on a range of sports, from football to tennis, with only horse racing picks not qualifying.
Paddy Power Acca Insurance
Paddy Power love a football giveaway or money back offer, so it’s no surprise to see they have jumped on the Accumulator Insurance bandwagon and were one of the first to make this available to their growing army of customers.
Players must place a 4+ fold win-draw-win multiple or 4+ fold same game multiple bet on any major football competition in order to qualify, including the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga. Should just one leg on your bet slip let you down, Paddy Power will return your stake in the form of a free bet, up to a maximum of £10.
There are minimum odds in place, as mentioned above, and it’s restricted to one return per customer per day. OK, £10 max really isn’t great, but the four-team minimum is better than you’ll find with most sites, so this is a competitive offer from an ambitious firm. Bonus funds are available for 7 days after being credited and can be used on any Paddy Power sportsbook market.
Ladbrokes pride themselves on consistently offering better prices than the competition on the biggest leagues and matches, but they are no stranger to a footy promotion either and do their bit for Acca Insurance. You need to place a five-team acca or more to be in with a chance, but they will refund up to £25 of your original stake.
Each selection must also carry odds of 1/10 or better, but you’d imagine that covers the majority of matches most nights of the week. We’re not sure you’d want to be dealing with a football bet carrying shorter than 1/10, so we’ll give them the credit they deserve for that. The overall odds of the acca must be at least 3/1 but, again, that shouldn’t cause you too many sleepless nights. If five teams are returning less than 3/1 you should maybe rethink your approach.
Betfair Acca Insurance
Betfair is a real football punter’s pal as they offer a long list of betting markets on every game, both -pre-match and in-play – and they are often market best price on the leagues we care about most, including the English Premier League. They have everything you need to score a football winner, and that includes Accumulator Insurance.
Now this one is good, and we’ve saved the best for last. The offer applies to multiples with three teams or more and the refund is paid in cash, as opposed to the free bets you’ll get elsewhere. Please note, Betfair call their Acca Insurance ‘Acca Edge’ and you must tick the box to enter when placing your bet. Don’t tick that box and you’ll miss out. Want your refund in cash? You know where to bet and the three-team stipulation is just stunning value.
Betfred Acca Insurance
There is nothing worse than missing out on winning an accumulator bet due to just one leg letting you down, which is what makes the latest promotion from Betfred so appealing. The bookmaker will refund all stakes in the form of a free bet, should your 5+fold football accumulator lose due to just one team.
Available up to a maximum of £10, the Acca Insurance offer covers a range of football competitions, including the Premier League, Champions League and World Cup. Bets must feature odds per leg of at least 1/3 or greater, with free bets being credited within just 24 hours of qualifying bets being settled. So what are you waiting for? Head to Betfred today in order to get in on the action!
What is Accumulator insurance? Well, if you’re serious about profiting from your love of football it’s well worth finding out the finer details as it’s a fantastic tool to have at your disposal and will help you land more winners more of the time. Here’s how…
We’ve all been there, or certainly know a few fellow punters who have. On track to land a weekend-changing football accumulator – every team winning heading into the final few minutes – only for one to let you down by conceding a late goal. Instantly your grand plans turn to dust, and you are left with nothing. In fact, it’s worse than nothing. You’re left feeling frustrated, deflated and at a loss as to how you’ll ever recover. You’ve gone from hero to zero in the kick of a ball. No night out on the town, no endless boasting to friends, it’s all over. Or is it?
Bookmakers feel your pain and after profiting from the misery of ‘so near yet so far’ backers for years, they decided it was about time they gave something back. The Accumulator Insurance was born, and it has changed the way we bet on football accas forever. You can now afford to be bold and aim for the big prizes, knowing there’s a safety net there to catch you if it all goes wrong.
A good way to think of Accumulator Insurance is a reward for giving it your best shot and going close. Here’s a step-by-step guide to how it works…
- Place a five-team football accumulator, for example. There are options on how many selections you need to qualify for Acca Insurance, but let’s use the standard five teams for conversational purposes.
- You hit the post with four teams winning and one letting you down.
- Horribly close! Trigger Acca Insurance which sees the bookie refund your original stake as a free bet if you go down by one leg.
It sounds too good to be true but, take it from us, it’s very real. There are a few terms and conditions worth noting – of course there are – but it’s nothing that’s going to trip you up or is designed to deny what’s rightfully yours. T&Cs of note are…
- Refunded stake is capped, £50 in most cases, so if you bet £100 stake and qualify, you’ll only get half of it back, but that’s better than nothing.
- More often than not your refund is paid in free bets, so can’t be withdrawn to your bank account or E-Wallet. It must be re-used for betting purposes. That may catch a few off-guard but we’re confident if you’re getting 4/5 on an acca you’ll need no encouragement to get back involved and place another football punt.
- Only certain leagues count towards this promotion and they are usually planet football’s biggest and best, such as the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A and Bundesliga. If you’re dipping your toe into the likes of the Chinese Super League you may not be covered. Be sure to check the rules before betting.
- Often there’s a minimum odds term. For example, every selection must be 1/5 or better, so you can’t club together 14x 1/8 shots and hope to nick a slight profit or get your cash back.
Football Accumulator Tips (Dos And Don’ts)
We know a thing or two about gambling here at Football Betting Sites. Here are a few of our top football accumulator betting tips. You’d do well to listen up!
1.Do Mix It Up
The best football accumulators are built on a refined mix of risk and reward.
Give yourself the best odds of winning, build most of your accumulator out of dead-certs. Get the odds up to a point where it’s worthwhile by throwing in at least one longer shot.
2.Don’t Get Greedy
As you’re building an acca, and you’re seeing the odds going up and up, it’s temptating to keep throwing in more results. This is exacerbated by the bonuses many sites offer for bigger accas. You have to resist this urge.
Those big odds look good on the screen, but there’s a reason they’re so big: your bet’s almost certainly not going to win. The sweet spot for accumulators is right around 4 or 5 results: that’s enough to give you good odds, whilst also giving you a decent chance of winning.
We’d recommend never having more than 8 results in a single accumulator, even if they all seem like sure things. In football, especially at the top levels, anything can happen in a given game.
Remember; there’s a thin line between genius and stupidity. Try to stay on the right side of that line with your football accumulators.
3.Do Stick to What You Know
If you watch the EPL week in and week out, then stick to the EPL. You already have a good base knowledge of the league, and you can make informed decisions about the games.
Resist the temptation to stray into other leagues if you’re not an expert in them, just because you think a team is pretty good. You might remember A.C. Milan as perennial Serie A champions, and stick them in your acca against a team you’ve never heard of. In reality, Milan haven’t finished higher than 7th in the past 3 seasons, and in their current state are a strong possibility to torpedo your bet.
4.Don’t Get Carried Away
However foolproof you think your accumulator is, you should never put too high of a stake on it; certainly less than you would on an individual result.
By their nature, these are very hard bets to win. Every week you’ll think you’ve assembled a world-class acca, and almost every week you’ll be disappointed.
It can be infuriating to win on the first 4 results, only for the whole thing to go up in flames during injury time of the 5th game. You’ll automatically be tempted to win it all back on another bet, but try to resist. Remember, there’s always next week, and there’s always another accumulator.
Accumulator Betting Terms
There’s nothing an educated sports punter loves more than placing a football accumulator. It’s little wonder the footy acca is the industry’s most popular bet as it gives players a chance to land a big return for a small risk.
Pick anything from three teams to 14 and if results go your way, you’ll see the prize money grow. Not everyone is lucky enough to land a bulky accumulator often, but it lives long in the memory for those who do.
That’s all great for backers with experience in the game, but what about newbies, those coming of age or dipping their toe into the ocean of sports betting? With so many terms, markets, types of bets and odds on offer, not to mention a sea of jargon, it’s a daunting place for fresh faces who are in danger of being swept away by it all.
Football betting doesn’t have to be a chore, of course. It’s a source of enjoyment and, like playing the lotto, allows you to dream of hitting the jackpot without posing too much threat to your wallet. It doesn’t take long for players to get used to it all and, in no time, you’ll be wondering what all the fuss was about.
To help speed things up a little, and to act as a reliable introduction to placing a football multiple, we’ve put together a handy betting terms guide, ensuring you know a Super Heinz from a big tin of beans.
- Singe: Let’s start at the beginning in our ABC guide. Back one football team to win and that’s a single. If they do as expected, you will be paid out at the agreed price. Easier to get right, but the odds aren’t always great.
- Double: One bet but placed on two different selections from two different matches. For example, Man Utd to beat Man City and Liverpool to beat Everton. Both teams must triumph for your one bet to be settled as a winner. A little more difficult than a single, but the odds are beginning to grow.
- Treble: As above, this is one bet, but we now have three selections, and all must win for you to be paid out. If you place a treble on three football teams and two win with the third ending in a draw, you’ve backed a loser. As we head into trebles and upwards the returns really start to build, making a small stakes bet possible.
- Fourfold: Single bet placed on four selections, all of which must win. As the name suggests, your winnings accumulate as every team come good. So, for example, £1 at 2/1 goes onto the next selection which then runs onto the next and fourth.
Fivefold: A single bet on five teams and all must do as expected for your bet to be paid as a winner.
- Sixfold: Six teams, but this is one bet. Every leg must win for you to be paid but, often, the returns are well worth the effort.
- Sevenfold: One bet, seven selections, a chunky pay-out coming your way if it goes to plan. Every win rolls onto the next to increase the prize pot. This type of bet works the same on anything from a double right up to 14 selections.
- Trixie: We’re back to three selections for this one but it works a bit differently than a treble as it has four separate bets, offering more ways to win. The bets involved are three possible combinations of doubles and a treble. Make three predictions and get two right you’ll bag a return.
- Patent: Another with three selections but here we have seven separate bets. The easiest way to think of a Patent is a Trixie with singles. Now you can have any singles, combinations of doubles or the treble to be paid. Remember, with seven bets offered you must multiple your stake by seven. So, a £1 Treble = £1 stake, whereas a £1 Patent = £7 stake. Make sense?
<Yankee: Four selections and to be paid out you must land at least two winners. A Yankee is made up of 11 separate bets – six doubles, four trebles and a fourfold accumulator. Multiply your stake by 11.
- Lucky 15: A popular bet and a Lucky 15 is one of the easiest multiples to understand. It’s four selections, like a Yankee, but has 15 bets, so you x your stake by 15. The bets involved are like that of a Yankee, but with singles added. Get one selection right and you’ll see a return. Many bookies also offer bonuses for one correct or all four correct.
- Super Yankee: Five selections made up of no less than 26 bets. The breakdown is 10 doubles, 10 trebles, five fourfolds and a fivefold accumulator. At least two selections must be correct, and your stake is x26, so be careful what you’re betting. Lots of ways to win with this and if all five selections are correct, you’ll be raking in the profit.
- Lucky 31: Take your shot at five selections and you’ll cover all bases with this bet. Punters must multiply their stake by 31 – hence the name – and that covers five singles, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, five fourfolds and one fivefold acca. One winner will get you money back and the more you call correctly the bigger the rewards.
- Heins: This bet gets its name from the famous old advertising slogan of Heinz because it had 57 varieties or, for our purposes, 57 bets. Here they are *sharp intake of breath* 15x doubles, 20x trebles, 15x fourfolds, 6x fivefolds and one sixfold. At least two selections of the six must come good, but there are lots of ways to win. Watch your stake as you must times it by 57.
Lucky 63: Six selections with 63 attached bets. six singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 fourfolds, six fivefolds and one sevenfold. You may have noticed this is the same bet as a Heinz, but with singles added, meaning there are more bets involved but more chances to get a winner with only one needed.
- Super Heinz: Remember the Heinz bet and how it got its name? Well this is the very similar, although backers have seven spaces to fill here, as opposed to the six of a Heinz. Here’s how you’re covered over 120 different bets. 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 fourfolds, 21 fivefolds, seven sixfolds and one sevenfold acca. 2/7 is the least allowed for a return. Mind your calculations.
- Goliath: We finish on the daddy of them all. Goliath backers must make eight selections and they are divided a whopping 247 times. So, please remember, that means you must multiply your stake by 247. So, think of it in terms of the amount you want to bet, rather than the individual stake. This will help protect you from overspending and getting a nasty surprise. 28 doubles, 56 trebles, 70 fourfold, 56 fivefold, 28 sixfold, eight sevenfolds and one eightfold accumulator. Two selections must win for a return, but you’d fancy your chances from eight picks.
Bottom line on Football Accumulators
Few things compare to the excitement of following Soccer Saturday live as your beautiful accumulator starts to come together in front of your eyes. Likewise, few things are as disappointing as having everything ruined by a last-minute goal, or one of your supposed dead-certs letting you down against a smaller team.
All things considered, the accumulator is probably the most fun bet in football. They’re very hard to win by their nature, but when one does come off you feel like an absolute football genius, and you can’t fire off the victorious Whatsapp messages to your mates quickly enough.

Frequently Asked Questions on Accumulators
Why Should I Bet On Football Accumulators?
Football accumulators are among the most popular types of bets in the world today and that’s no fluke. They offer punters exactly what they want – big returns for small stakes. A handful of change placed on a stacked acca, with the right selections and a generous helping of luck, could see you land a massive reward.
The lucky few have even scooped life-changing sums off an acca. From three teams to 14 teams, if you back them all to win and they live up to expectations, your prize money will keep growing and growing and you could be making headlines.
Is It Possible To Cash Out My Accumulator Bet?
Of course, and cash out has changed the way we bet on football accumulators forever. In the past you’d get your bets on, sit back and cheer the teams involved, waiting for 4:45pm and hoping you land a return. Not anymore. Now the cash out on your acca means, if things are going your way, you can cut and run early for a profit. It makes accumulator betting more exciting as you’re now glued to the scores and cash out values. Four of five winning with the spare 0-0 with 80 mins on the clock – it’s a tense affair.
Do Bookmakers Offer Bonuses Specific To Accumulators?
Bookies haven’t been slow in realising the popularity of football accumulators and have reacted to ensure you do your betting with them. But they are all the same, it’s just a case of clubbing together a few selections and setting your stake, so why does it matter who you bet with? Wrong!
There are many accumulator bonuses available, but bet365 is up there with the best of them. They’ll pay you a bonus and the amount depends on how many selections you have. Three teams earns you a 5% bonus and that grows until you reach 100% for 14 selections.
Is There A Limit On The Amount Of Selections I Can Have In My Accumulator?
With most firms there’s a limit on how many selections you can add to your accumulator. Usually the fewest legs allowed is three with the maximum being 14. All betting firms have a ceiling on how much they can pay you out, so it’s worth checking this when building a football accumulator with lots of legs.
